Slughorn’s Crystallized Pineapple

“Thank you for the pineapple, you’re quite right, it is my favorite – but how did you know?”
-Horace Slughorn
-Tom Riddle

imageOur recipe today is, surprisingly, an important piece of HP history! Since Tom Riddle bargained truth with Slughorn with our treat; we felt that you should have a chance to try this sugary candy. Also, since some versions of this recipe can take days to make, we’re using a shorter version to save you time & money. But sorry, no horcrux information included… (Photo from here, recipe from here.)

1 cup granulated sugar

Assorted pineapple slices or chunks

1/3 cup reserved pineapple juice

2 tbsp. light corn syrup

1. Arrange five pineapple slices in single layer over the sugar, juice, and corn syrup mixture.

2. Microwave on high from 8 to 12 minutes or until sugar dissolves.

3.  Make sure the slices are glossy and have transparent edges, and if so then turn the rings over and rearrange slices every 4 minutes while still microwaving on high. Be sure to not to tear the rings!
